A few days before their wedding, Alejandra and Michael decided they wanted something just for themselves. A quiet pause in the middle of everything. A moment that did not belong to timelines, guests, or expectations. Just the two of them, standing together as the day faded into night.
Joshua Tree National Park held them in that familiar way it does, wide open and still, with the desert stretching endlessly in every direction. The three of us met eachother for the first time in Joshua Tree years prior for a fun couple session, it was bright and toasty.
This time around the sun had already started its slow descent when we arrived, casting everything in soft gold and long shadows that seemed to move with us.
It was surprisingly chilly in a way the desert can be when the light starts to disappear. The kind of cold that settles in quietly, reminding you that even the warmest places change as the day ends. They held each other a little closer because of it.
There was something incredibly grounding about the simplicity of it all. No audience. No pressure. Just two people, standing under a Joshua Tree, in the middle of a landscape that felt both ancient and alive, choosing each other out loud.
As the sun dipped lower, they read their vows to one another. Their voices were steady at first, then softer, then breaking slightly in the places where emotion always finds a way through. The wind moved around them, the desert listened, and everything else felt like it fell away for a moment.
When the sun finally slipped below the horizon, the sky held onto its color for just a little longer, as if it was reluctant to let them go. They stayed there in that afterglow, holding each other, letting the moment settle into them.
These are the kinds of moments that do not ask for attention, they just ask to be witnessed and it was truly an honor to witness this one.
Thank you Alejandra and Michael ♡︎
